Editor's note

Epidemic situation is order, prevention and control is responsibility. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, volunteers have responded positively to the call and joined in the prevention and control work. According to incomplete statistics, more than 40 teachers and students of the college participated in voluntary service during the epidemic. They went to the front line, entered the community and stationed in the village, assisted in policy publicity, household screening, disinfection and protection, thermometry, information registration, material distribution, online education and other work, and built a solid defense line for epidemic prevention and control with sincerity and dedication.

In recent columns, we will draw some of the volunteers one by one, hoping that their stories can cast a ray of the warmest sunshine in our hearts.

They are good teachers who teach and educate people in the classroom, researchers who study hard in the laboratory, good neighbors who are warm-hearted in life, and good parents who set an example for their children. In the face of difficulties, their optimism, dedication and perseverance let us feel the kindness between people and sigh that the world is still so beautiful. They have a common name - volunteers.

After the outbreak of COVID-19, go back to Wuhan and go home

Lijin Huang is a young teacher in the Department of chemistry. His hometown is Yangao village, Qiaozhen, Zhangping City, Fujian Province. On January 20 this year, he and his wife drove home for the new year. Although it is a happy thing to go home for the new year, but news about COVID-19 in Wuhan is always disturbing him in the past two days.

When he stepped into the house, all the worries are gone. Unlike Wuhan, which is cold and humid, Fujian's countryside is particularly warm in winter. Take off the heavy down jacket, let people feel very relaxed immediately. The parents were so happy that they kept busy inside and outside, and kept complaining: "how can we arrive so late? It's worrying.". What the family used to greet Lijin Hung and his wife is a big hot meal, coupled with the smell of steamed radish cake, which is unique to his hometown. All of these make Lijin Huang feel a kind of long-lost cordiality and familiarity.

At the beginning, everything was as usual. Lijin Huang occasionally walked around the village and looked at the village he grew up in: the big trees at the entrance of the village seemed to be much bigger, the water in the river not far from home was much cleaner, and people were also busy going to the town to buy new year's goods for the Spring Festival. Although the Internet is full of discussions about Wuhan's new coronavirus, the village, 900 kilometers away from Wuhan, does not seem to have been greatly affected.

The situation changed on January 23, after the news of Wuhan's lockdown came. Lijin Huang realized that the situation was very serious, and he felt uneasy and suffering. He was worried that he had a virus on his body. If it was transmitted to his parents, the consequences would be unimaginable. "Because I have been with my parents for two days, living together, it's too late to do isolation." Think of here, Lijin Huang fell into deep regret and remorse again, " If I knew early, it would be better not to go home." The surrounding atmosphere has also undergone subtle changes. No neighbors come to visit. Even if they meet each other head-on, the villagers dare not talk to the family any more. Therefore, the family decided to isolate themselves, consciously stay at home and not go out, and reported their temperature to the local hospital every day according to the requirements of the local government.

The biggest problem during the isolation period is that the replenishment needs cannot be met, and the food and drink problems of the whole family need be solved. Fortunately, the cadres in the village actively solve the problems, help to buy daily necessities and send them to their homes regularly. I have been isolated for 14 days. Fortunately, the whole family is safe.

On the first day after the isolation, Lijin Huang learned from the village cadres that the task of epidemic prevention was heavy and he was faced with the problem of insufficient manpower. "During the period of isolation, the village cadres took care of our family. They were very hard, and I am a party member. At this time, I should do something within my ability." As a result, Lijin Huang took the initiative to sign up for the prevention and control work and became a volunteer. He is responsible for the information registration and temperature measurement of passing vehicles and pedestrians in and out of Yangao village and Gongqiao town.

On the first day of taking part in the epidemic prevention work, Lijin Huang drove his car from home to the duty station. After a whole day's work, what surprised Lijin Huang was that his car with a license plate of Wuhan was filmed and spread in the wechat group of the town. Many people called the police station to report and ask for investigation. Henceforth, Lijin Huang never dared to drive out any more. He could only walk to the road checkpoint to be on duty, and there were 5 kilometers from home to the intersection of the town. Although the work is hard, Lijin Huang thinks that the work has been carried out smoothly. "Villagers still understand and support the epidemic prevention work very much, and have no complaints about the slow traffic caused by information registration. Everyone is contributing to this silent battle. "

Although he is not a native of Wuhan, he has been living in Wuhan for a long time. Lijin Huang has long regarded Wuhan as his second home. He deeply loves the city. As a Wuhan man living in a place far away from Wuhan, he has experienced some fears and prejudices against Wuhan people in this long vacation, such as "mentioning about Wuhan, face changes", but he is more passionate about the hero's city. At this time, his biggest wish is "the epidemic will pass quickly, return to Wuhan and go home."

Wish you have a warm and kind life

January 23, the last day of Wenting Chen's holiday duty, is also the first day of Wuhan's lockdown.

In the morning, Wenting Chen drove to the campus of futuretown to assist guogang Li, vice president of the college, to investigate the potential safety hazards of each laboratory and public space on each floor of the college. At the same time, she handed over new year's consolation products, two stacks of medical masks and thermometers to the students staying at the college during the Spring Festival. After everything was arranged, she went home and began to live in isolation.

In her old plan, Wenting Chen wanted to take her two-year-old daughter to her hometown of Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province with her wife after her shift. But because of the lockdown of the city, they can only stay in Wuhan this new year. This year is Wenting's Chen fourteenth year of studying and working in Wuhan, and it's the first time to stay in Wuhan for the new year. Thinking of her parents far away from home, she was still very concerned. "Fortunately, our family has three members together, which is also a small fortune.

Wenting Chen lives in a community outside the school. During her isolation at home, the number of confirmed and suspected cases in the community continued to grow. At the same time, the community's prevention and control work is inadequate. Seeing that the community workers are busy every day, and the community owners are full of complaints and abuse, venting their dissatisfaction with the community work, Wenting Chenwas very anxious in the heart."The grass-roots level is the first line of joint prevention and control. Instead of worrying at home, it's better to do something practical for the community." As a result, Wenting Chen took the initiative to report her party membership status to the community and asked to participate in the prevention and control of the epidemic in the community. At the moment when she joined the temporary Party branch in the community, she felt the power of the organization. The party members and comrades of the branch came from different families and had different careers, but they all wanted to think and work together. Considering that Wenting Chen still has a two-year-old daughter to look after, the branch arranged her to be mainly responsible for online information statistics.

The community owner group is the main battlefield of Wenting Chen's work, and the owner group is a small society of all living beings. Here, we need to understand the needs of different groups, give a prompt respond to various problems of residents, and convey the epidemic information that residents are most concerned in a transparently and timely manner. Wenting Chen regularly communicates the updated epidemic situation to the residents every day without any delay to avoid any doubt. When rumors like "gargling with salt water can prevent the virus" and "fumigating vinegar at home can prevent the virus" spread in the group, she immediately went online to consult the relevant information and promptly refuted the rumors. During the epidemic, there was a shortage of goods. When Zigong people donated cauliflower with love to the community, she shared the good news with the owners to let them experience the warm feelings in the epidemic.

Since February 11,all communities in Wuhan have been implemented closed management. All the residents in the communities should stay indoors, so purchasing basic living goods becomes the biggest problem. In such an emergency, Wenting Chen and five community volunteers set up a volunteer team to purchase community living goods. With the help of a telephone and a computer, several like-minded young people gathered together to complete a series of work, including docking with Zhongbai warehouse, statistics of community residents' demand information, unified procurement of living goods, and distribution of goods to each family. In this way, the owner can place an order at home and receive goods at home, realizing "no contact". At the same time, they focus on the elderly, the weak and the families of medical staff, some special measures are proposed for them. Such as adding the purchase method of telephone order for the elderly who can not access the Internet. Many residents also volunteered to join the team instead of just getting benefits, and the number of volunteers increased from 6 to 46. As of March 2, they have completed 1398 purchase orders for 291 households, contributing to ensuring the basic life of community residents.

When Wenting Chen is too busy to accompany her daughter, her daughter will ask, "Mom, mom, what are you doing?" Wenting Chen said, "mom is volunteering!" Obviously, the meaning of "volunteer" is beyond the understanding of two-year-old children. But Chen believes in the influence of subtle influence: "I hope my daughter will grow up to be a warm and kind person." May be the best education comes from their parents' words and deeds. They will plant a seed in their young hearts, which will sprout one day.
